Andover Illinois is Henry Countys oldest community, nestled on the great Midwest prairie some 20 miles south of the Mississippi River on Interstate 74 (exit 24).
The English colony was established in 1835 and "discovered" by the Swedes in the 1840's.
Visitors from around the world come every year to see the Jenny Lind Chapel, which is the birthplace of Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish national Lutheran churches in America.
At the four Andover Historical Society buildings, visitors can see a treasure of history unfold from the lives of people living in fast-changing frontier.
Andover's former colony square has now been transformed into the Andover Lake Park - a perfect spot for a picnic and family fun.
